Movie and story aside, this was the first song I can remember breaking down to for reasons that were not fed to me. In a moment of absent-mindedness, I forgot where I’d first heard it, and, in losing that context, I was able to focus, absorb, and come up with my own. Her voice is one tear away from weeping, and I was finally really able to recognize that sadness…feel it. I let it hurt me and teach me. So glad I  finally listened.

This song, sung by this man, is one of only a few that make me instantly sad.

Sidenote

I can now get myself crying simply by looking at pictures from Titanic.

Oh my god. I cried.

This song is this entire night back in cold, rainy, and familiar Wisconsin, excluding the part where I found out about the LMM retweet. Like I always say, this is a great place to come from and a great place to come home to, but, for me, I don’t think it will ever be a great place to stay.

Note to you: follow the incredible young woman who is singing this. As if her voice weren’t enough, she is a talented photographer as well. And also a beautiful human being.

Second note to you: because this is literally just an audio file one of my best friends recorded in her bedroom and then sent to me in an e-mail (yeah, she’s really that good), you need to turn up the volume a little to really hear it. It is NOT bad quality. Just quiet, for whatever reason.

Note to self: stop listening to this and subsequently crying in public venues.
